It’s an exciting time of development and growth for our member firm, Moore Kingston Smith, as London-based law firm Statham Gill Davies (SGD) is joining its Legal Services team to form Moore SGD Law in 2025.
Moore Kingston Smith’s legal services for business and private individuals include a corporate team supporting clients with company law, group reorganisations, investment and shareholders’ agreements, share incentives, Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs), management buyouts (MBOs) and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, its private client team provides expertise in probate, estate administration, wills and inheritance tax planning, trusts and lasting powers of attorney. In September it launched immigration law services for businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

SGD has built a solid reputation as expert music lawyers, representing prominent artists from the Brit Pop era to today's music scene. Their commitment and knowledge have garnered trust from a diverse range of clients within the industry, highlighted by their band two Chambers and Partners ranking in music. Beyond their roots, SGD has expanded its expertise to include a comprehensive range of legal services.

January will see Moore Kingston Smith’s 14 person, SRA authorised legal team joined by SGD’s six partners and 24 people. The SGD team provides the full range of legal services including property, dispute resolution, family, company and commercial, employment, immigration and notarial services, as well as being media, entertainment and music specialists.

In line with Moore Kingston Smith’s growth strategy to broaden its professional services, the merger will enable the firm to offer a full-service legal practice under the banner of Moore SGD Law.

SGD’s clients will benefit from seamless access to the expertise and services of a large, connected firm including Moore Kingston Smith’s tax, HR consultancy, insolvency and digital transformation offerings, as well as the national and international reach of the Moore UK and Moore Global networks. This move brings the strength of a growing business with well-honed operational teams, processes and systems that support both the delivery of high-quality client services and the career growth of its people within a well-supported environment.

The SGD team includes some of the most well-respected lawyers in the industry. This complements Moore Kingston Smith’s existing media offering and dedicated team of over 100 experts, adding specialist legal expertise to further enhance its capabilities which cover marketing services, TV and film, theatre, actors and entertainers and video gaming.

As a longtime supporter of the media sector, and having recently welcomed Shipleys, a market-leading adviser in film, TV and animation production, Moore Kingston Smith furthers its position as a leader in serving the media, marketing and creative industries.

Matt Meadows, Managing Partner of Moore Kingston Smith comments: “SGD’s team of exceptional and seasoned lawyers are a very welcome addition to our Legal Services team. Significantly widening our legal offering, we’re delighted to combine our expertise, enabling us to mutually carry out much broader work for our clients, together as Moore SGD Law.”

In 2015, Moore Kingston Smith became the first medium-sized accountancy firm to receive an ABS license from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and has grown steadily since. This latest merger marks an exciting milestone in the team’s continued development.
