Moore supports Ukraine: Real, tangible and necessary help

Matthew Meadows

The outbreak of war in Ukraine in February 2022 shocked and saddened the world. Since then, we’ve seen the devastation caused, from lives lost to mass displacement. The need for vital resources, including electricity and medical supplies, is enormous.

Our Moore Global community has long come together to provide support to colleagues impacted by conflict and natural disaster and remains steadfast in its commitment to the Moore Promise. Through our Social Ambition programme, we aim to be a force for good, creating meaningful social change and inspiring others to join us in our mission.

“To be a force for good” is more than just a slogan -- it’s a guiding principle that our network lives by every day. Since the war began, our member firms have rallied together to take action and raise over £350,000 in support of our Ukrainian colleagues and their families. This incredible effort embodies our shared dedication to making a positive impact, showing that in times of crisis, our global community stands united and strong.

The urgency for help goes beyond our colleagues. The network is collaborating to fundraise for UK charity Medical Life Lines Ukraine (MLLU) through the Moore Kingston Smith Community Foundation, supporting its initiative to deliver ambulances and aid to the country. Paul Samrah, a consultant with London firm Moore Kingston Smith, has led efforts to raise £40,000 ahead of personally making the drive to Ukraine as part of MLLU’s next convoy leaving in September.

So far, over £25,000 has been raised towards purchasing, renovating and stocking ambulances with medical and practical aid, including dressings, equipment and defibrillators, as well as the drive to Ukraine. Such supplies are essential for hospitals like Okhmatdyt, the children’s hospital subjected to a missile attack on July 8. Its destruction shocked the world.

To date, the organisation has delivered 72 ambulances to locations and hospitals throughout the country including Kyiv City Hospital, Boryspil Neonatal Centre, Kharkiv A&E and more. The Moore team is dedicated to ensuring this process runs seamlessly and efficiently, overcoming any obstacles to deliver essential supplies to their destinations. Despite ongoing challenges and disruptions in the region, our member firms in Ukraine remain committed to their professional activities. Our shared support of those affected by the consequences of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine reflects our resilience and determination.

At Moore, we believe in the power of collaboration. We take pride in making a real contribution and supporting communities in an ever-changing world. To join us in supporting this cause and donate, please click here.

Together, we can make a real difference and show our unwavering support for the people of Ukraine.
