CJRS Claims deadline

CJRS Claims deadline

Esme ShakeShaft

With the nationwide lockdown coming to an end and tiers being re-introduced there are a lot of changes happening which may distract you from upcoming business support deadlines such as the CJRS.

The last date for any claims made up to the 31 October is the 30 November, if you have not yet made a claim please ensure you do try to as soon as possible. Please contact your local Moore (South) office if you need assistance with this.

Coronavirus job retention scheme

The CJRS has been extended to 31‌‌‌ ‌March 2021 for all parts of the UK. Since 1‌‌‌ ‌November, the UK Government has been paying 80% of employees’ usual wages for the hours not worked, up to a cap of £2,500 per month. You and your employees do not need to have benefited from the scheme before to claim for periods from 1‌‌‌ ‌November. There will be a review date of the CJRS in January 2021 which may see employers taking on an increased financial contribution if the economic and health outlook of the country show signs of improvement.

  • To be eligible, employees must have been registered on their employers PAYE payroll by 23:59 on 30 October 2020.  The employer must have made a PAYE Real Time Information (RTI) submission to HMRC between 20 March 2020 and 30 October 2020, notifying a payment of earnings for that employee.
  • All employers with a UK bank account and UK PAYE schemes can claim the grant. Neither the employer nor the employee needs to have previously used the CJRS.
The deadline to make claims for employees furloughed in November is Monday 14‌‌‌ ‌December.

Claims deadlines

Monthly deadlines for claims have now been introduced. Claims for periods starting on or after 1‌‌‌ ‌November must be submitted within 14 calendar days after the month they relate to, unless this falls on a weekend in which case the deadline is the next weekday. E.g. if it falls on Sunday 14 February the applicable date will be Monday 15 February.

Publishing employers’ information

HMRC will publish the names, an indication of the value of claims and Company Registration Numbers of employers who make CJRS claims for periods from December onwards.

For claim periods from December, employees will also be able to check if their employer has made a CJRS claim on their behalf through the online Personal Tax Account. If you want to set up a Personal Tax Account or wish to sign in you can access the appropriate page here: Personal Tax Account
