Moore Peterborough Partner Richard Thurlow announces retirement

Geoff Norman

After a career spanning more than 40 years and after 11 years as a partner at Moore’s Peterborough office, Richard Thurlow has announced he will be retiring at the end of September 2020.

Richard joined Moore (then Moore Stephens) from Baker Tilly as a partner in 2009.

Richard says it’s hard to imagine not working but plans to spend more time with his family and at his property in Spain (coronavirus restrictions permitting) after retirement.

He said: “I’m not going to miss the daily grind, but I will miss the people – both clients and colleagues.  I’ve worked with some clients for more than 40 years, and I’ve loved seeing their businesses grow over generations. One client started out as a market stall, and is now a multi-million pound high street retailer with stores across the UK.

“I will also really miss working as a mentor to more junior staff.  One of my greatest achievements has been to support others with their development and seeing them progress through the business from trainee right through to partner.”

Peterborough Managing Partner Andy Hancock said: “Richard has made an enormous contribution to Moore over the past 10 years.  He has a wealth of experience of advising clients, not just on tax matters, but helping them with business development, finance, expansion, strategy, succession and the much more.

“Richard also has a great track record in developing people who work alongside him. He will be much missed by colleagues and clients alike.  We wish Richard all the best for the future.”
