Moore UK member firm, Moore Kingston Smith have been recognised in 2024’s Social Mobility Employer Index, the authority on employer-led social mobility. This highlights our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive culture where people can thrive, no matter their background, and a workplace representative of the diverse communities we work with.

Our commitment to social mobility
Diverse and inclusive businesses are more successful, more representative, and Moore Kingston Smith know inclusion is key to a thriving firm. We’re committed to providing equal opportunities to people from all walks of life, supporting and championing everyone to achieve their personal and professional aspirations.
Our ranking in the Index shines a light on the work we’re doing to break down barriers. We’ve implemented several initiatives aimed at driving social mobility within our firm, as well as partnering with wider associations that support and enable positive change across the industry.
What Moore Kingston Smith are doing
Engaging with initiatives which aim to drive and achieve measurable outcomes in social mobility, we work with our charity partner St Giles; Access Accountancy, a collaboration of organisations and professional bodies; and ICAEW-led programme Rise, which helps students from low socio-economic backgrounds develop employability skills for the workplace.
Through our virtual work experience we’re able to reach a broader range of young people, providing them with insight into working in accountancy and professional services. Feedback tells us this has increased people’s confidence in pursuing a career in the sector and for networking with industry professionals.
We offer multiple career entry routes for school leavers, graduates and career changers. These are recognised in both 2023 and 2024’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers rankings for the quality of our training programmes. And, ensuring our interviewers hire based on skills and potential required for the role, we conduct inclusive hiring training.
Advocating for social mobility is an important step to supporting change. We’ve hosted panel discussions, shared insights online and through schools outreach to help demystify the profession, share best practice and remove barriers.
Our Social Mobility Community Group, part of our dedicated ED&I committee, is open to all our colleagues who are passionate about social mobility and creating equal opportunities for individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
The Index highlighted that we’re performing well in some areas, and we expect this work will result in tangible improvement to social mobility outcomes over the coming year.
Looking ahead
Many people across Moore Kingston Smith and the future-looking organisations we partner with have played their part in sharing best practice and helping us get to where we are today. Our dedicated ED&I Committee and people team continue championing inclusion and diversity in our firm, as well as contributing to a more inclusive future for the profession.
